OSA Treatment Option Alternatives
| Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) Therapy CPAP Therapy is typically the first line of treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. The CPAP machine sends positive air pressure into a patient's upper airway through a mask attached to the machine. This air pressure holds the patient's airway open as they sleep, preventing it from collapsing and causing apnea events. If chosen as treatment, CPAP Therapy should be utilized every night.
| Oral Appliance An oral appliance is an alternative treatment to CPAP therapy, recommended for mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea. An oral appliance works by moving the jaw slightly forward. This repositioning of the jaw tightens the soft tissue and muscles of the upper airway thus helping to prevent obstruction of the airway and apnea events.

Surgery Surgery is another alternative treatment option for OSA. Surgery options should be discussed with the patient's referring physician to determine the appropriate surgery for that patient.
